Your 2009 All-Stars

One of the best parts of the Blackhawks Convention is the Q&A sessions with current Hawks, former players (mostly Hall Of Famers), the broadcasters and the front office. Many of us here at nottheicecrew.com sat in on these panel discussions. And in true Blackhawk fashion, the answers were hilarious and informative.
I captured the hilarity… mostly. So in the next few posts, I’ll provide you with my documentation of several 2009 Blackhawks Convention Q&As.
Your 2009 All-Stars (Brian Campbell, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews)
When asked by John Weidmen about how it felt to be elected as an All-Star, before Toews could answer, Kane said, “It might be the last time for you, Johnny.” Toews then answered the question. When he was done, Kane said, “Of course he had to give a serious answer to the first question…”
When asked how it felt to get a hat trick, Toews answered, “Well, I was lucky to get the garbage goals….” Kane interjected, “What else is new?”
When asked to talk about how to stay healthy during the playoffs, Toews said, “Well Kaner got real sick during the first round, and I share a room with him, so I didn’t want to get sick.” Campbell had a big smile on his face, making the crowd giggle, and Toews quickly responded, “Don’t get any ideas, though…” with a big smile on his face.
Everyone was asking serious questions, so I decided to lighten the mood with a silly one:
Q: “What is your favorite hockey movie?”
Campbell: “Slapshot… duh…”
Toews is not sure.
Kane: “I gotta go with Mighty Ducks. All day, all night.”
Q: “How do you not get down on yourself when you have a bad game?”
Toews: “Well, Kaner watches YouTube videos of himself every other night.”
Q: “What are some of the funniest comments you hear during a game from teammates or other players?”
Campbell: “I don’t think I can say some of them, but I’d really like to. There was this one time, Ben Eager told Cammarelli, a short guy on Calgary–kind of like Kaner–who’s now on Montreal, ‘Tell Santa I want a bike for Christmas.’ That was pretty funny.”
When asked about the signs fans hold up at the games and which ones they think are funny, Kane said, “We always get the prom ones,” and grinned.
A kid asked Kane if he was on the cover of NHL ’09. He said yes and then told us a funny story: “I got to the locker room and sat down next to Tazer. He asked me if I was on the cover of NHL ’09 and I said, ‘Oh yea…’ He said, ‘Oh… cool… congrats… how come I’m not on the cover?!’ It was pretty funny…”
