The Defense Never Rests
By Carrie | July 25, 2009
Here are some memorable quotations from the Defense Never Rests Q&A with Brian Campbell, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook:
Brian Campbell almost eats the floor as he practically wipes out while trying to sit on the chair. He then picks it up lion-tamer style and threatens Seabrook for laughing.
Seabrook is doodling, gets caught by Brian Campbell.
Q: “Why are you a defenseman?”
Seabrook: “So I don’t have to skate as much…”
While Duncan Keith takes about five minutes to answer a question, Campbell and Seabrook pretend to be snoring. Once Keith notices: “My girlfriend says my voice puts her to sleep. I guess my next career after the NHL will be a hypnotist.”
Every time Keith answers a question, Campbell and Seabrook roll their eyes, talk to each other or make gestures.
After awhile, Nick Hjalmarsoon: “Can we get a Swedish translator, please?”
Q: “Are you a Cubs fan or Sox fan”
–Long pause from all four guys—
Seabrook: “I’m a Blackhawks fan.” FANS GO NUTS!
Campbell: “Cubs” and an explanation I didn’t even care to remember LOL. Remember, this chick’s a White Sox lover from birth!
Q: “Does the delay of game penalty bother you?”
Seabrook: “No, it’s a good penalty. It makes you stay on point and have to control the puck, not just flick it out.”
Keith: “I wish the officials could still review the play to see if it was intentional” Seabrook then throws his hands up in the air in disbelief his teammates don’t agree with him, haha.
Hjalmarsson: “Yea I don’t like it. I got like five of those last year.”
Q: “Is there a lot of trash-talking among the Swedes?”
Hjalmarsson: “No, not really. We’re too nice.”
Talking about the Duncan Keith hair-pulling incident. Keith is quoted wrong and he says, “I believe what I said was, ‘Not even my 12 year old sister pulled my hair.’”
Brian Campbell: “Datsyuk is weird. He’s a weird guy.”
Q: “Who do you want to get in a fight with?”
Keith: “I want to tee off with Zetterberg.”
