About the Site

We’re not the Ice Crew…

We are bunch of die hard lady Blackhawks fans who met on Twitter, where we created a little family. We chat back and forth every day, and our topics of conversation range from trade rumors to Front Office snafus to VERSTEEG facts to Hawks team pretty points.

So it is with great pleasure that we take to the Internets–not the ice–to entertain you with our rants and ramblings, our praises and disappointments and, most importantly, our big Blackhawk crushes.

And Now, A Note From Kat:

Some of you may be wondering why this blog is called “Not The Ice Crew.” Since I came up with the name, I guess it’s up to me to explain.

First of all, this is the Blackhawks Ice Crew.

Now, let me get something straight — I have no ill will toward the Ice Crew personally, despite jokingly calling them the “Ice Hoochies.” (Go on, say it out loud. It’s funny!) As a wise woman once said…

“Ain’t no shame, ladies, do your thang / Just make sure you ahead of the game” - Missy Elliot, “Work It”

Everyone has to do things to pay the bills and get through life. For the women on the Ice Crew, it’s wearing booty shorts, slapping on some ice skates, and shoveling ice for a few minutes per game in the winter. If someone’s willing to pay them to do that, then go ahead and make that money, girl! I ain’t mad at you.

That’s not us, though.

We’re representing for the women who love hockey and are loyal to their team — for us, the Chicago Blackhawks. We’re the ones who would probably break out in hives if we had to wear a pink jersey that wasn’t somehow connected to breast cancer research. Yes, we will turn into fangirls sometimes. And, in my case, I will rant and rave once in a while. But don’t get it twisted — we know what we’re talking about. I hope you’ll stick around and let us drop some knowledge.
